Festival main stages give you every kind of light in one day. I shoot the early sets flat and hard, wait for the six o'clock gold, then work the last two hours entirely on backlight and haze. The crowd pictures are the ones the promoter actually uses, so I spend as long behind the barrier as in front of it.

Seventy-four frames went to the festival and its three headline agents the same night. Nothing was retouched beyond a levels pass - a field looks like a field.
